PROGRESS REPORTS AND UPDATES
June 9, 2008 The Property and Building Team met for the first time. The committee conducted the following business:
Discussed various options on the sit for the location of church buildings
Agreed that a multi-phase building project would be adopted, beginning with the construction of a fellowship hall with adjacent classrooms and kitchen
Compiled a list of facility needs for both immediate and future needs
Discussed selection of an architectural firm
Agreed to contact individuals to clear undergrowth on the proposed church site and to obtain a topographical survey
Selected Jim Covington to serve as chairman, Rusty Marsalis as co-chairman, and Ruthie Conn as Recording Secretary
Future meetings are scheduled to be held as needed.
June 10, 2008. Closing papers were signed for the purchase of the property on Enterprise Road.
July 8, 2008. The Building Planning Team held their second meeting, taking the following actions:
The group was updated on recent work of removing undergrowth and clearing a site on the Enterprise Road property
Discussion was held regarding the process of interviewing prospective architects
Information was provided on a building available through General Steel, with more information to be obtained from the company
Discussion was held regarding organizational matters such as the time of the meeting and the possibility of eventually establishing some sort of executive committee to facilitate the work of the committee.
August 3, 2008. On behalf of the Building Committee and the officers of the church, Rusty Marsalis gave a "call to prayer" to the church for our building program and plans. A part of the evening service was devoted to corporate prayer for the building program. The church family is urged to be in continual prayer for the Lord's wisdom and direction, as we seek to follow His leading in all things.
August 4, 2008. Letters have been mailed to prospective architects. Dates for interviews with the Building Committee will be determined after hearing from architects contacted. A topography study of the property has been completed as well.
October 8, 2008. Larry Singleton was chosen as the architect to design a master plan and site plan for NCPC's building program.
January 18, 2009. Larry Singleton, architect, have an update to the congregation at the annual Congregational meeting. Preliminary drawings of a site plan were shown.
February, 2009. Larry Singleton, architect, is developing two proposed site plans for the property.
March 9, 2009. Larry Singleton presented two site plans to the Building Committee for consideration and is further developing those plans with the intention of presenting a more detailed proposal to the Building Committee at the end of the month.
April 7, 2009. The Building Committee met with architect Larry Singleton and selected a site for the building on the Enterprise Road property.
May 18, 2009. The Building Committee met to consider conceptual drawings and submitted those drawings to architect Larry Singleton to design detailed plans with cost estimates.
June 29, 2009. The Building Committee met with architect Larry Singleton to review drawings and to determine site location.
July 20, 2009. Architect Larry Singleton presented two drawings, each of a different color scheme, to the Building Committee for consideration. These drawings will be on display at the church building. More attention will now be given to a room-by-room consideration. Preliminary site work of cutting down trees, moving dirt, etc. can began once final site tests are concluded.
September 21, 2009. Meetings have been held each month as the Building Committee has worked with architect Larry Singleton to develop building plans. The Building Committee met on this date with architect Larry Singleton to review plans and some proposed changes to construction plans. Larry is considering both a conventional foundation with crawl space and a slab on grade foundation. Other proposed changes include some modification to the church offices, Gothic type windows for the multi purpose room, modifying the kitchen area to allow more separation between it and the main meeting area,and other modifications. While the multi-purpose room will serve as a fellowship hall, effort is also being made to emphasize its primary purpose as a place of worship.
Work is now being undertaken on the site to clear undergrowth, to stake out the building site, to conduct necessary soil tests, to remove trees, and to begin some preliminary site preparation.
November 3, 2009. The Building Committee met with architect Larry Singleton and voiced general approval to drawings of a floor plan and to the exterior of the building. The Committee will have a workshop on Monday, November 9 to further review and consider the overall plans. The Building Committee will develop a written recommendation to be made to the Session, which will disseminate information to the congregation and call a congregational meeting once a decision is ready to be made. In the meantime, we will continue to conduct soil tests and other site preparation work that can be done at this stage.
December 1, 2009. The Committee met with architect Larry Singleton who reviewed preliminary design drawings.
February 25, 2010. Architect Larry Singleton presented construction drawings to the committee. These plans will be reviewed and finalized and estimated costs determined using a team approach with architect Larry Singleton, a contractor, and members of the committee.
April 2010. Preliminary drawings and specifications have been received from architect Larry Singleton and given to Clark Construction Company for preliminary pricing and review.
June 2010. Construction plans and costs were presented to the Building Committee. The committee will present a report to the congregation Sunday evening, June 20.
June 20, 2010. The Building Committee presented the construction plans to the congregation along with expected costs and information on financing. A Capital Funds Campaign Committee is being formally organized.
July 1, 2010. "Ground has been broken" as preliminary site work began on the Enterprise Road property.
October 24, 2010. The congregation approved the recommendation of the Building Committee for the construction of a 12,100 square foot facility on the Enterprise Road property.
November 9, 2010. Site work for the construction of the new facility began.
August 2011. Construction is 60% accomplished and should be completed in November.
